Tarantula Fuzz is a limited edition spooky pedal for October 2024. It starts with a 12AX7 tube stage and pushes a pair of NOS germanium transistors into an aggressive fuzz tone, then pushes that into another 12AX7 tube stage, so you get the effect of a tube boost pushing a germanium fuzz pushing the front end of an amp, all in one pedal. Unlike some vintage-style germanium fuzzes, Tarantula’s tube input stage has an input impedance of 1MΩ, so you don’t need to worry about it not causing problems with other devices in your chain.
The gain control sweeps from a nice crunchy, vintage-inspired fuzz, to an aggressive, face-melting boosted fuzz. The switchable noise gate allows you to tame the noise that comes when the gain is cranked and also opens up some unique compressive tones, making this a versatile pedal to fill all your fuzzy needs.
Due to the limited stock on hand of the NOS germanium transistors at the heart of the Tarantula Fuzz, these will be limited to 60 units.
As a tube pedal, Tarantula Fuzz requires a high amount of current to operate correctly. I recommend a 9-12VDC power supply capable of delivering at least 400mA. Using less than this can damage the power supply and/or the pedal.
